Locals can show out in support tonight after more than 30 have died across the nation from gun violence this past weekend.
Mayor Betsy Price will be hosting a community-wide prayer vigil at 6:15 p.m. outside City Hall near the flag poles on the north side of the building. City Hall's address is 200 Texas St.
“All residents are welcome to attend,” the mayor wrote on her Facebook page. “Please share with your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers.”
Two mass shootings occurred within 24 hours of each other. At least nine were killed and several more were injured in a mass shooting in downtown Dayton, Ohio overnight Sunday, per several national media outlets. That tragedy followed an incident Saturday inside an El Paso Walmart, where at least 20 were killed and many more sustained injury.
Mayor Price Saturday evening offered condolences to victims in El Paso. Price also says she’s been in touch with El Paso Mayor Dee Margo to extend support.
