The stage is set for Sydney Harris, the reigning Mid-American Conference (MAC) Freshman of the Year, now that she has officially signed on to be a Horned Frog.
Fresh out of the transfer portal, Harris started and played in all 29 games for Central Michigan this season, averaging a team-high 35.3 minutes per game.
Coming out of Edwardsville, Illinois, Harris led the Chippewas in scoring and ranked third in the MAC during her freshman campaign, averaging 17.4 points per game. She also earned double-digit points in 26 out of the 29 games. Furthermore, Harris led the team beyond the arc, hitting 34.8% of her three-point shots and averaging three a game. CMU women's basketball went 6-23 in the 2022-23 season.
Her skills were honed at Edwardsville High School, where she became one of the institution's most accomplished athletes. Harris accumulated a school-record 2,024 career points over her four-year varsity run. Following her senior year in 2022, Harris was chosen to the Edwardsville HS All-Decade Team. She was named twice as an Associated Press and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Stater and received first-team All-Southwestern conference credentials three times.Her prowess on the court extended to the greater St. Louis market, as she was a three-time St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro selection.
But basketball wasn’t the only sport Harris had an aptitude for. She also received two varsity letters in volleyball, earning All-Conference and honorable mention all-state citations.
TCU's 2023-2024 roster now stands at 14 players with Harris' signing. She is the sixth transfer the Horned Frogs have tabbed, joining frontcourt counterpart Sedona Prince (Oregon) and guards Jaden Owens (Baylor), Agnes Emma-Nnopu (Stanford), Madison Conner (Arizona) and Una Jovanovic (Cal State Fullerton). TCU added Texas high school standouts Jade Clack (Austin HS) and Victoria Flores (Duncanville HS) during the early signing period.
