There's a new player in town, and it’s not wearing a jersey. It’s a company — the kind of company that could change the way Rangers fans experience the game. The Texas Rangers have announced the creation of the Rangers Sports Media & Entertainment Company, an ambitious new business venture that’s set to redefine the team's connection with its fans and the world of sports media, according to a release. It’s a move that feels as big as a home run in the bottom of the ninth.
In 2025, the Rangers Sports Network (RSN), a crucial arm of this new entity, will be responsible for producing and distributing the team’s television broadcasts. If you’re wondering what that means for you, the fan, think more access, more coverage, and ultimately more ways to enjoy the game you love. The RSN is about to make the world of Rangers baseball feel a little bit smaller, making it easier for you to watch every pitch, every hit, and every moment from the comfort of your home, your car, or wherever you might be.
At the helm of this groundbreaking operation is Neil Leibman, who steps into the role of Chairman of the Rangers Sports Media & Entertainment Company. Leibman, part of the ownership group of the Rangers, is no stranger to high-stakes decisions. He’s relinquishing his prior role as President of Business Operations and COO of the Rangers, but he’s still the man with the plan. He’ll now oversee RSN and another equally important arm of the new company — REV Entertainment.
REV Entertainment is a name that’s already been around since 2021, and it’s proven itself a valuable asset to the Rangers franchise. It’s the umbrella under which the team’s sports and entertainment ambitions have flourished. Whether it’s booking events at Globe Life Field or Choctaw Stadium, or expanding into new realms of sports management and marketing, REV has been busy growing behind the scenes. And now, under the new company structure, it’s set to reach new heights.
In the eyes of Ray Davis, majority owner of the Rangers, this new direction is all about giving fans more options. "One of the main goals when seeking solutions for Rangers television broadcasts was to give fans more access to our games," Davis says. "We determined that the best path toward providing our fans with more options is to handle many of the broadcast obligations in-house."
With the announcement of a partnership with APMC, owner of Victory+, a streaming service set to carry all Rangers regional broadcasts starting in 2025, the team is moving swiftly to offer multiple viewing options. It’s a first step in what will indeed become a new era for Rangers fans — one with fewer barriers and more ways to engage with the team.
But this is about more than just broadcasts. Rangers Sports Network will oversee everything from game production to behind-the-scenes staffing to on-air talent. It’s the kind of all-in operation that makes you feel like you’re right there in the stadium, even when you’re thousands of miles away. RSN’s reach will include cable, satellite, and streaming platforms, so whether you’re tuned in on your big-screen TV or catching the game on your phone, you’ll be part of the action.
And if you’ve been to Globe Life Field, you’ve seen REV Entertainment’s work firsthand. This is the group behind booking some of the biggest events at the stadium and the company expanding its footprint across the entertainment industry.
Jim Cochrane, who has been with the Rangers for 28 years, is another key player in this fresh chapter. The team has promoted him to executive vice president and chief business officer, where he’ll continue overseeing revenue streams and business operations.
Davis continued, “By forming Rangers Sports Network to address the various production responsibilities for team broadcasts and content, we feel the entity is in a strong position to deliver for Rangers fans as well as execute other potential broadcast opportunities in the future.”
