The Big Good
Leon Bridges and Gary Patterson of The Big Good
In case you haven’t already heard of the colossal Cowtown pairing of Gary Patterson (now of the University of Texas, which we’ll naturally look past) and Grammy award-winning artist Leon Bridges, the two created the massive charity organization — aptly named — The Big Good in November 2020.
With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, the pair are ready to bring The Big Good’s first annual fundraising event to Fort Worth on April 7.
The private event (you will need tickets to learn of location) will showcase musical talent from, of course, Leon Bridges as well as a few additional surprise musical performances. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Tarrant To & Through Partnership, United Community Centers, and UpSpire. The common mission of the three organizations is a hyper-focused effort to create opportunities for people to gain the educational and professional skills needed to thrive in today’s workforce.
The Big Good takes on projects that instill bright futures, focused primarily on education and COVID-19 response. During the pandemic, The Big Good supported families with education and physical activities during the unexpected disruptions in schools. The Big Good also addressed food shortages by partnering with organizations to orchestrate a Thanksgiving meal that fed thousands of families.
“When we first envisioned The Big Good and how to create the most impact in Fort Worth, we wanted to make this an event that embraces all of Fort Worth. Now, after the challenges of 2020 and 2021, we are ready and excited to launch The Big Good,” said Patterson via a press release. “Fort Worth is such a special place that is home to some great people, and we just want to continue to support this community in any way we can.”
Sponsors for the event include Luther King Capital Management, Sue Parrish, Gilchrist Automotive, North Texas Community Foundation, Higginbotham, Sewell & The Dallas Mavericks.
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available. You can find out more by going to www.thebiggood.org or by emailing [email protected].
