There’s something electric about Fort Worth’s Near Southside — a neighborhood that buzzes with creative energy, culture, and a sense of community. And just as the area continues to evolve, so too does a beloved piece of its past. Enter The Nobleman Hotel, a new addition that promises to be a stylish anchor to this eclectic district, is set to open its doors in early 2025, according to a release.
So, what makes The Nobleman so special?
Well, it’s built into the bones of a 1911 landmark — the historic No. 5 Fire Station. A place that, for decades, served as home to brave firefighters whose courage helped save the city from a devastating blaze. Today, the original firehouse will serve as the heart of the hotel, with its preserved façade standing tall and proud amidst 121 guest rooms and 32 extended-stay suites.
The Nobleman is a labor of love for Jeff Blackman, founder of Bedford Lodging, whose vision seamlessly blends the past and present. The hotel’s design wraps 153 rooms and suites around the original fire station, paying homage to its legacy while offering every modern comfort. The 1911 building’s charm remains intact — yes, the fireman’s pole is still there, leading visitors up the revitalized staircase to a lobby adorned with restored, white-tiled walls and brass accents.
But it’s not just the history that draws you in; it’s the vibe of the place. The space feels inviting and dynamic, with communal areas that encourage guests to mingle, relax, and linger. There’s even a game room, and a contemporary pool and fitness center for those who want to unwind after a long day of exploring. And for those looking to host an event or meeting, The Nobleman offers 1,500 square feet of flexible meeting space, with outdoor terraces that provide a unique setting in the city’s most progressive district.

The Nobleman Hotel
“The Nobleman will be a stylish and approachable addition to the Near Southside neighborhood,” Blackman said in a statement. “We want to be a destination for weekend travelers, businesspeople, those visiting our renowned medical district, and, of course, our local residents. We want it to be the go-to neighborhood spot.”
But it’s not just the design that’s going to make The Nobleman unforgettable. It’s also the food. Enter Duchess, the hotel’s chef-driven restaurant, located right on the ground floor of the fire station. In a nod to the rich flavors of Texas, Duchess will serve up a contemporary New American menu with a distinct Texas twist. Think Texas burrata, snapper crudo, and brined roasted hen — dishes that celebrate the bounty of the region, driven by seasonal ingredients. The restaurant, designed by the team at KMC&A Design, is designed to be both approachable and sophisticated, with a vibe that will draw locals and visitors alike.
Blackman teamed up with chef Casey Thompson — the culinary mind behind The Mansion Restaurant in Dallas and a "Top Chef" alum — to bring Duchess to life.
“The restaurant is meant to feel like a place you could visit time and time again,” Blackman says. “It’s a neighborhood spot, where locals will feel at home, but it’s also something that will draw people from all over the city and beyond.”
The creative team behind The Nobleman includes the Dallas-based agency Ashlar Projects, which has worked on the hotel’s branding, and Kansas-based Crossland Construction, responsible for the build. The project is more than just a hotel; it’s a place where the past and present collide to create something unique. Guests will find comfort, community, and an experience that’s both luxurious and distinctly Fort Worth.
