The new home of Toyota of Fort Worth is being built on a once-empty expanse off the West Loop.
PRIM Construction as general contractor is overseeing construction on the new 82,000-square-foot complex, scheduled to be complete by February. The facility is at 449 West Loop 820 South.
The tilt wall building will include a 29,500-square-foot showroom and a 52,500 square foot service center. The service center will house 59 vehicle service bays and five detail bays. The showroom will include a customer lounge as well as a children’s play area.
“We are very excited about working with Toyota of Fort Worth,” said Trent Prim in a statement. “Toyota is a premier automotive brand, and this will be the largest dealership we have constructed to date.”
The complex is being constructed at a cost of $19 million, according to documents filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The building was designed by Jim Stephenson of VLK Architects.
Toyota of Fort Worth is a company of the Doherty Automotive Group, based in Lakeland, Florida. In 2018, Doherty acquired the dealership from Sonic Automotive, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company founded by Bruton Smith.
Smith, who died in 2022 at age 95, was best known as the founder of Speedway Motorsports, which owns and operates Texas Motor Speedway in north Fort Worth.
PRIM Construction was founded in 2007 by Beth and Trent Prim. The firm is certified as a Women's Business Enterprise and a state of Texas HUB contractor.
