Well, friends, 2016 is coming to a close. Before looking ahead to 2017, we decided to take a walk down memory lane through the pages of our 2016 issues. Some of them captured important Fort Worth moments, others gave us great memories and some are just plain pretty. Here are some of our favorite memories of 2016, in photos.
January: Heather Spivey
One of Fort Worth, Texas magazine’s most beautiful women was local makeup artist Heather Spivey. This photo, captured in the children’s room at the Fort Worth Public Library downtown, was one of our favorites from the grueling two-day shoot.
February: Food Art
In 2016, food wasn't just for eating – it was for art, too. We enlisted Instagram-famous food artist Gretchen Roehrs (@groehrs) to illustrate the seven female chefs highlighted in our February feature. Check out the story.
March: Dream on Dreamer
The Fort Worth art scene was active as ever this year, as murals popped up all over town. Local artist Katie Murray aided in starting the movement with her Dream on Dreamer mural at The Crossing at Camp Bowie. Read our article.
April: Spring Fashion
The creative team took over the hacienda-style estate at 52 Valley Ridge in Old Westover to capture the colorful patterns and varying textures that defined 2016 spring style. This Wes Anderson-inspired shot, taken in a wallpapered powder room, was one of our favorites. Check out all the looks here.
May: Popping Color
We took a tour inside an abode remodeled and redesigned with the help of Beckley Design Studio in May. The Monticello home of Jordan and Adam Davidson was equal parts practical and fun. That was perfectly captured in these bonnet chairs reupholstered in a vibrant Schumacher Chiang Mai Jade fabric. Read the full story here.
June: Lauren Essl
Fort Worth's entrepreneurial scene continued to grow thanks to young business owners like Lauren Essl, who runs calligraphy and design studio Blue Eye Brown Eye. Last summer, she let us into her North Hi Mount home, where color and eclectic decor mark its charming design.
July: Food!
Food Stylist Beth Maya joined the team in 2016, filling the pages of our magazine with delicious recipes like this watermelon salad that was perfectly paired with a summer rose. Get the recipe here.
August: Home of Dreams
In 2016 we introduced our inaugural Home of Dreams. The eclectic study inside the home had us wanting to sit and stay awhile. Read all about it here.
September: Construction of the new Neiman Marcus
If there's anything we know about Fort Worth in 2016, it's that there was construction. A lot of construction. One of those construction zones? Neiman Marcus at The Shops at Clearfork. But we didn't have to wait until its February 2017 opening to see style in the building. In September, we stepped between drywall and metal framing to model Neiman Marcus' top fashions of the season. Check out this article to see more great shots.
October: Most Stylish Men
In October, we met some of the most stylish men in the city. Our photo shoot with local musician Abraham Alexander yielded some of our favorite shots. Meet all 10 of the men here.
November: Top Tacos in Town
There's no question that Fort Worthians ate a lot of tacos this year. We went around the city looking for the – not top 10! – top 11 tacos in town. Check out the story here. Warning: You will get hungry.
December: Immigrant Success
We live in a city of diverse backgrounds, cultures and traditions. In December, we met seven individuals from all around the world – from Mexico to Macedonia – who found success in Fort Worth. Read their stories.
