Where can you find a school where your child can learn to live and think according to a biblical, Christ-centered worldview? There’s a Fort Worth school dedicated to those values, and it’s celebrating its 20th anniversary this fall.
Covenant Classical School has partnered with parents since 1999 to provide students with a rigorous, classical education that instills a lifelong love of learning. On Sept. 13, families spanning two decades of the Covenant community celebrated the school's 20th anniversary with a “Mix, Mingle and Remember” celebration at the Ashton Depot near downtown Fort Worth. Over 300 parents, teachers and alumni gathered to celebrate and reflect upon the growth of the school. Storytelling was a key part of the celebration, with alumni parents sharing stories from the earliest years and a “Heritage Hall” museum-like display that showcased academic, athletic and fine arts memorabilia that spanned the school’s 20 years.
Covenant Classical School started with only 14 students in 1999 and grew rapidly, moving from one outgrown, rented location to another. By the grace of God, the generosity of Covenant donors and the tireless work of many volunteers, Covenant settled into its permanent, 54-acre campus on Wind Star Way in 2009. Today, 425 students attend the school and its 83 graduates have gone on to attend rigorous college programs such as Harvard University, Baylor University’s Honors College, the University of Texas at Austin and more.
Covenant was previously ranked by Fort Worth Magazine as one of the top five private schools in Fort Worth and is listed as one of Texas’ top 100 private schools according to Niche.com.
According to Head of School Eric Cook, “Covenant Classical School is committed to, in total dependence upon God’s grace, forming students into wise and godly leaders who are equipped to engage the world with a solid, biblical foundation and the tools of learning.”
Since its founding, the school has been based on the motto: “In all things Christ preeminent.” As the school continues to build its legacy, it remains focused on keeping Christ at the center of the education and experience it provides for its students and their families.
“Beyond this plea, bless each family,” reads an early Covenant school prayer. “Revive each heart to burn with love for You, Father, even the hearts of our children’s children for years to come, that You may be known on earth, Your saving power among the nations.”
