Girl Scout Cookie Season Starts Jan. 9 With a New Flavor

This year’s cookie season features the new Exploremores cookie and expanded programs that help build confident girl entrepreneurs.

Each winter, Girl Scout Cookie Season marks one of the most anticipated traditions for Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains. Beginning Jan. 9, Girl Scouts will set up booths across Fort Worth, ready to meet customers, share their goals, and begin the season with a new cookie.

Katherine Curtis, a representative from Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, says this season includes returning favorites along with new updates that reflect what the program focuses on, helping girls build confidence and gain real-world business experience.

A New Cookie

The 2026 season debuts a new cookie called Exploremores, a Rocky Road-inspired treat with chocolate, marshmallow, and toasted almond flavors. This cookie adds variety to the traditional lineup and is expected to become a favorite for families during the new season. It combines chocolate wafers with a toasted-almond flavored crème and a soft marshmallow-like filling, creating a rich taste. The cookie also demonstrates the program’s aim to offer new flavors while maintaining the classic favorites that customers know and enjoy.

Supporting Girl Entrepreneurs

While cookie flavors get the spotlight, Katherine emphasizes that the true impact lies in the skills girls develop. “When people buy a box of cookies, they’re supporting girl entrepreneurs,” she says.

Girls as young as our daisies, starting at age five, set personal sales goals tied to experiences the program helps fund. These goals can fund experiences ranging from summer camp and leadership trips to prizes like custom shoes or jewelry, and some Girl Scouts aim even higher, with one local Girl Scout using cookie earnings to help fund a trip to Belize.

Goal-setting, money management, customer service, and communication all play an important role in Girl Scouts. “These girls are running a business,” Katherine says. Many are already planning how they’ll use their cookie credits for travel or camp next year.

How to Find Cookie Booths

Customers can easily find booths using the Girl Scout Cookie Finder, an online tool where users enter their ZIP code to see nearby booth locations and times. Booths are commonly found at grocery stores like Walmart, Kroger, as well as restaurants and other high-traffic spots.

Beginning January 9th, the Cookie Finder will be accessible directly from the homepage at gs-top.org. Customers who know a Girl Scout can also purchase online, and some troop-run online options may appear later in the season.

Cookies for Heroes

For those who want to support without taking home a box, Cookies for Heroes allows customers to donate packages that troops deliver to military members, fire stations, hospitals, schools, shelters, and other community heroes. “It’s a great way for people to give back,” Katherine notes.

Introducing Cookie Champions for 2026

This year introduces Cookie Champions, an initiative for businesses that want to support troops in a bigger way. Companies or donors can purchase 100-200 (or more) cookie boxes to keep or donate, supporting both troop activities and the Cookies for Heroes program. More details will be available through Girl Scouts for interested organizations.

National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend

From February 20-22, the region will join the nationwide celebration of National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend, encouraging communities to show their support. During this weekend, cookie lovers have the opportunity to order their favorite Girl Scout Cookies for direct delivery or in-person pickup, while supporting girls as they develop skills in entrepreneurship, leadership, and goal-setting.

This year’s Girl Scout Cookie Season gives communities a chance to enjoy new and classic cookies while supporting local troops. Purchases help fund experiences that teach skills like leadership, goal-setting, and entrepreneurship.
