We stumbled across local artist Natalie Erwin and featured her several months ago in the magazine. Since then, she has been busy. Three of Erwin's original works are being featured on the set of TNT's revival of the popular series Dallas.
Erwin is a native of Fort Worth and received her B.F.A. in painting from Texas Christian University. Her work is unique in that she paints directly onto birch wood panels. She uses unique materials comprised of wax colors, milk paints, and stains and utilizes wood burning techniques in her pieces.
Her work has been featured in numerous online, television and print media, but never anything to this extent.
"It is an honor to have been selected to contribute to the international and multi-generational phenomenon that is Dallas. It has been one of the highlights of my career thus far to spend time at Southfork Ranch, work with the cast and crew, and bring to life on my birch wood panels the imagery and symbols of the show Dallas – Texas, ranching, oil and of course money," Erwin said.
Her large-scale Southfork Ranch Commission is prominently featured in the dining room on the set, and Republic of Texas Banknote was commissioned for the private quarters of J.R. Ewing. Cattle and Pond hangs in the office of J.R.'s brother, Bobby Ewing.
