The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its building with several new acquisitions. There will also be a gala and dinner on Dec. 6.
Designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the Modern features massive walls of architectural concrete and 40-foot high walls of glass framed in metal. Ando devised every detail including the large reflection pond, outdoor sculptures and the landscaped grounds around the museum.
Diffused and naturally reflected light allow visitors to fully appreciate the more than 2,600 works of art in gallery spaces.
New acquisitions include a rare early drawing by Sol LeWitt and a light sculpture by Dan Flavin. A painting by Mark Bradford will be unveiled as part of the anniversary festivities, as will a charcoal drawing by Robyn O"Neil, a video and sound installation by Bruce Nauman and a significant installation by Jenny Holzer.
