After being closed for renovation for nearly four months, the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau (FWCVB) reopened its Main Street Visitor Center on Wednesday, debuting a new store and Fort Worth history exhibit.
“The downtown core is vital to growing our visitor base,” FWCVB President and CEO Bob Jameson said. “With the success of Sundance Square Plaza, the Main Street Visitor Center is positioned to accommodate the increased pedestrian traffic and engage visitors from around the world.”
The 770 square-foot space, located at 508 Main St. in Sundance Square, features a Fort Worth Store, with t-shirts, sunglasses, pens and other Fort Worth-branded merchandise. To celebrate the visitor center's reopening, the FWCVB is offering a free Hear Fort Worth CD and 20 percent off purchases until Oct. 15.
The exhibit, A Brief History of Fort Worth, showcases 170 years of the city’s history with artifacts like one of Amon Carter’s hats, Leonard’s Department Store items and other memorabilia curated by the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.
“Visitors love Sundance Square because we built it for residents and locals first,” Sundance Square President and CEO Johnny Campbell said. “This new visitor center is a bright addition to Main Street and the area surrounding the new plaza.”
