A new community park is coming to North Fort Worth.
The City of Fort Worth received an additional $1 million grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission to build Alliance Park, located south of Highway 114 and east of Interstate 35 West. The department had received another $1 million grant for the park in 2016 and also acquired $2 million dollars of land through purchase and donations from Hillwood Properties.
“We are thrilled and honored to accept this grant,” Park and Recreation Department Director Richard Zavala said in a statement. “This money, combined with the previously awarded grant, will help construct the necessary infrastructure and initial amenities for what will eventually become a unique community park that combines sports fields and preserves open space that local residents will enjoy and benefit from for years to come.”
The funds from the Urban Outdoor Recreation Grant will be used to build four soccer fields with lighting and bleachers, concrete trails, picnic tables, benches and a pedestrian water crossing. Some of the money will also be used for landscape restoration.
Construction is expected to begin later this year.
