Unlike many carpet stores or tile shops that only carry certain materials or specialize in sales without installation, Vintage Floors brings all flooring options under one roof.
Factors to Consider When Selecting Flooring
Set Your Budget: Budget is the first and most important consideration when selecting flooring, explained Vintage Floors co-owner Grant McGregor. Knowing this upfront helps guide buyers toward options that fit within their price range. But, don’t let your budget define your style—the experts at Vintage Flooring can help you select the right flooring that can still achieve a high-end look without a high-end budget.
Assess Your Lifestyle: Lifestyle also plays a big role in flooring selection. Factors like having kids, pets, or a busy household can influence the durability and maintenance level of your choice. For instance, opting for marble in a child’s bathroom might not be practical, while more durable, spill-resistant options are better suited for such spaces.
Consider The Home’s Style: Buyers will also want to consider the architecture and style of their home to ensure the flooring complements the overall design. Interior designer Julie Behr recommends bringing in pictures of flooring styles or sharing design plans if you’re building a new home. Vintage Flooring is also more than just flooring—they can complete the full look by covering pretty much any surface from shower walls and shower floors to stand out feature walls.
How to Identify Which Flooring Material is Best for Your Space
Selecting the right type of flooring for your home is a significant decision that impacts both the aesthetic and functional aspects of your space. Whether you’re looking for something cozy, durable, luxurious, or low-maintenance, each flooring material has its own set of benefits and downsides.
Here’s a breakdown of the four popular flooring options—wood, tile, stone, and carpet—to help you make an informed choice.
Tile Flooring

Create an elegant and streamline look to your space by carrying matching or complimentary tile from floor to ceiling with Vintage Floors.
Tile is an excellent choice for bathrooms and kitchens, as it handles moisture, humidity, and steam without damage. This makes it ideal for areas where hardwood might not be suitable.
Tile offers endless possibilities for personalizing your space, with a wide range of colors, patterns, and mosaics to choose from. Larger tiles have become popular in bathrooms, creating a luxurious feel with options like single pieces of marble or natural stone for a seamless look.
The variety of price points available ensures that you can achieve a stunning design while staying within budget. But, McGregor highlights that no matter how much you have spent on materials, if the product isn’t installed properly, it won’t matter.
“We have a certain level of craftsmanship that goes with our installs,” he said. “If you buy a patterned tile, for example, our team has the skills and ability to make the product look as it was designed, but if you don’t go with a reputable company that has expertise in installation services, you may not get the same outcome.”
“We’ve all seen beautiful tile that was purchased but didn’t look quite right once it goes in,” Behr added. “Our installers have a level of craftsmanship and artistry—they really see each install as a piece of artwork that they’re doing.”
Stone Flooring

Stone flooring from Vintage Floors can be the foundation of any great design and used in multiple ways to create a stand-out design.
Natural stone is a high-end option that exudes luxury and adds significant value to your home. Sourced from different quarries around the world, stone such as marble, granite, or limestone creates a unique and high-quality look. The cost of natural stone is typically higher, especially when sourced from countries like Italy and other locations throughout Europe or Asia.
Stone is a durable material with a reputation for longevity, making it an excellent investment, but maintenance is essential to protect its value.
“Stone anywhere in the home is a really great way to protect, or even increase, the value of your home,” McGregor explained. “At each price point for a home, there are certain expectations of quality, design and materials used. You’ll find natural stone surfaces at the higher end of the spectrum.”
But again, Behr highlights that stone is also a great material to elevate a space, even without a hefty price tag.
“We’re also seeing a lot of porcelain tiles that look more like natural stone—whether it's imitating limestone or marble, there are some out there that will absolutely fool you once installed,” she said. “If someone wants the look of marble but isn't interested in the maintenance or cost, you can still get the same high-end look.”
Carpet Flooring

Carpet flooring from Vintage Floors can be a great way to infuse personality and design into your space.
Carpet is a cozy and comfortable choice, ideal for bedrooms or living areas where warmth is a priority. The wide range of pile heights, textures, and colors makes it easy to create a personalized and inviting atmosphere.
“When you step out of bed, carpeting is much more inviting and comfortable,” McGregor explained. “And now, with carpeting you can do so many things with new designs and colors. We’re seeing a lot of people making each room unique. It used to be that every room in the upstairs had the same carpeting, but now we’re seeing one design in your daughter’s room and another in your son’s that’s completely different, for example.”
Carpeting allows homeowners to experiment with unique designs in different rooms, moving away from the traditional "same carpet throughout the house" approach. Recent advancements in materials have led to greater durability, with longer warranties, ensuring they stand the test of time. However, depending on the material, carpet may wear down faster in high-traffic areas, requiring more frequent replacement.
