The Flying T Club has officially announced their 501(c)(3) status to allow TCU fans to participate in the success of TCU’s college athletics. TCU alums Ches Williams and Jeff Patman alongside founder Bryan Harlan have kickstarted a non-profit, The Flying T Club, in an effort to help TCU sports maintain its notable reputation. For Frogs, by Frogs, The Flying T Club is leading the way for individual donors and TCU sports fans to connect with TCU’s nationally recognized athletes and coaches. “The nature of college athletics has changed drastically,” Williams says, “and we have to learn how to adapt and make sure we are playing by the rules.” College athletes throughout the United States are now permitted to use their name, image, and likeness (NIL) for promotional purposes after recent legislation overruled an NCAA rule that previously prohibited the monetization of their persona/brand.

These private events are ideal for networking and perfect for die-hard TCU fans to connect with student-athletes and coaches. Currently, the organization has over 40 Ambassadors, including representatives from the football, baseball, basketball and sand volleyball teams. “These events have been incredibly well received,” Williams says, “they offer a unique way for TCU fans to directly connect with players in a casual environment and really get to know them. We are strengthening the bonds between our alums and student-athletes and having fun while we do it.”

We are creating a sense of community that is strengthening relationships across Frogs from all walks of life. All the while, we are having fun and making our program more competitive,” Patman says.
“Supporters of all stripes can play in the game,” Williams says. The club accepts donations of all sizes and have they have ranged from $100 to well north of six figures. Different perks are available to members, depending on the level at which they join. It is now more critical than ever for TCU alum, donors, and fans, to proactively respond to support their alma mater.
Since forming in August of 2021, the club has raised over three million dollars from over 200 members and is growing rapidly. Once influential alumni like Gus Bates and Brad Cunningham caught wind of the club, things really took off. “I had looked at the different NIL opportunities benefiting TCU student athletes and it was clear to me that the Flying T Club was led by TCU alumni who were doing this out of their love for the University and TCU athletics. Jeff and Ches’ passion and desire to help TCU athletics achieve long term success was what sold me on The Flying T Club,” says Cunningham.
The landscape of college athletics is changing rapidly. It is now more critical than ever for TCU alum, donors, and fans, to proactively respond to support their alma mater. The Flying T Club has recently officially received a 501(c)(3) status, which permits all donations to be fully tax-deductible. To earn that status, the Club will be performing charitable works with their Ambassadors and also donating to other charities. Their main focus will be in supporting another 501(c)(3) – TCU Frog Club.Becoming a member of The Flying T Club is much more than just an opportunity to rally behind a great cause – donors of The Flying T Club are paving the way for the future of TCU sports.
“Coming to TCU is a lifelong decision,” Patman says. “If you come here, you’re a part of the Frog family for good. We are committed to making the future a bright one for TCU Athletics.”
