6666 Ranch
Acclaimed as one of the nation's most significant ranch purchases in history, the iconic 6666® Ranch has sold for its first-ever time since its founding in 1870.
Don Bell, of United Country Real Estate® | Brazos River Land Company under the UC Ranch Properties® brand Anne Marion’s estate, and the late Milt Bradford facilitate the long-rumored sale of the 266,000-acre ranch to screenwriter and producer Taylor Sheridan.
The Paschal High School graduate is a co-creator and producer of the popular Paramount Network television series "Yellowstone" and its spin-off, "1883," of which several scenes were filmed locally late last year.
With connections to America's prominent historic figures, including President Theodore Roosevelt and Quanah Parker, the ranch has a long history in Texas and the U.S.
“Recently featured on the hit show Yellowstone, the ranch was purchased in its entirety and will continue to represent the icon that it is in the ranching community,” Bell said in a news release. “History is always being made around this unique ranch and this purchase was no different.” Its history also has connections to America's most prominent historic figures, including President Theodore Roosevelt and Quanah Parker.
According to the news release, the ranch operates in three separate divisions: the 6666® Ranch, about 142,372 acresm in Guthrie; the 114,455-acre Dixon Ranch in Carson and Hutchison counties; and the smaller 9,428-acre Frisco Creek Ranch in Sherman County.
“The final purchase price of the ranches remains undisclosed, but it’s publicly known the ranches were collectively listed for sale at $341 million just for the real estate itself,” said Bell.
In the terms of her will, Anne Marion — granddaughter of the ranch's founder Samuel Burk Burnett — dictated all her ranching operations would be sold, according to the release. Marion died on Feb. 11, 2020.
Bell and the late Bradford combined their years of knowledge living and working in both ranching and real estate industries to bring this transaction the expertise it required, according to the release.
“I started the journey of representing the buyers with my late friend and real estate agent, Milt Bradford,” said Bell. “Milt was my best friend and confidant, and an instrumental part of this historic sale. We executed the PSA two days before he passed away, and while I regret that he wasn’t there with me to see the purchase close, I know he was somewhere smiling down.
“It’s very humbling to have been part of this legendary passing of the torch. I was so honored to have represented the buyers’ interest in this historic purchase, and look forward to watching the next chapter of this piece of Texas history unfold," Bell added.
