Kimpton Harper Hotel
There's an opening date now set for what once was the headquarters of XTO Energy — transformed into a boutique, luxury hotel, complete with an Italian restaurant and penthouse bar.
The Kimpton Harper Hotel will open June 2 at 714 Main St. in downtown Fort Worth. This year also happens to be the building's 100th anniversary — it was originally built in 1921 as the headquarters for Farmer’s and Mechanics Bank. After XTO Energy's exit, Memphis-based Development Services Group, Inc., (DSG) acquired the building in 2018, converting it to a hotel now managed by Pivot, a division of the Davidson Hospitality Group.

Rooms and suites feature contemporary designs by Cynthia Forchielli of Forchielli Glynn.
The hotel features 226 guest rooms and suites designed by Cynthia Forchielli of Forchielli Glynn who, according to a news release, "brings the perfect blend of relaxed yet sophisticated design to every room, including handcrafted furniture, thoughtful details, brass pendant lights, woven baskets, and lively local art." Some details — like a panther figurine, a nod to Fort Worth's "Panther City" nickname — are incorporated into the design as well. Room amenities include Frette bedding, Atelier Bloem bath goods, Bluetooth speaker systems, and plush bathrobes; and for those looking for a little extra, 31 one-bedroom suites also offer soaking tubs, wet bars, and views of downtown and surrounding plains.
The Harper Hotel's signature restaurant is Il Modo, a contemporary Italian concept headed by Chef Matt Williams. Diners can expect housemade pastas and wood-fired pizzas to pair with a curated wine list and cocktails. The space's design gives guests a peek into the pasta-making room, and guests can also sign up for pasta-making classes.
