Perhaps Fort Worthians summoned the Star Wars hero with the anticipation for the new series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, on Disney+ — soon to be coming to your smart TV May 27. Unfortunately, Ford won’t be making an appearance in the new series, as his last days portraying the iconic pilot of the Millennium Falcon came in “The Force Awakens” (it’s been seven years — spoilers expire after two).
Fort Worthians were excited to see none other than Indiana Jones himself finding a new leg of adventure at Istanbul Grill off of Sundance Square on May 11. In an Instagram post from one of the waitresses, it seems Ford enjoyed his meal (or so says his long receipt spotted on the table).
While some people in the comments were ecstatic to see an actor such as Ford wander into Cowtown, many questioned why he was even here. Unfortunately, people can hold off gifting the actor a key to the city, as Ford was merely passing — or flying — through.
According to reports, Ford comes to Fort Worth every two years to re-apply for his helicopter’s license at Bell Helicopter. This isn’t the first time he’s stepped into Fort Worth. Perhaps his last visit was more discreet than his 2015 appearance when Mr. Solo stacked up on Funkytown favorites.
In 2015, Ford was seen at Brewed, Shinjuku Station, The Chat Room, Paris Coffee Shop, and several other local hotspots. A bartender at Thompson’s recalls him having a whiskey drink, and Ford claimed it was the best. Others on social media recall their Harrison Ford sightings:
“He went to Fusion smoke shop to buy a Keep Fort Worth Funky shirt and sticker for his grandson!”
“Saw him several years ago at a small restaurant in Bedford, told our son how well behaved he was, and gave him a dollar.”
“Yes. He was sitting at a table next to ours at Ellerbee's on Wednesday evening. Everyone left him alone, too, which was good.”
If you missed your chance to see Ford in action, wait another two years — perhaps he will even step into the Fort Worth Magazine’s offices.
