After opening only a few months ago on Hulen Street, Fanboys Marketplace is already moving across town.
On March 15, Fanboys Marketplace — a collection pop culture vendors — will celebrate the grand opening of its new location at 6385 Camp Bowie Blvd. This 38,000-square-foot space was once occupied by a Stein Mart and is more than quadruple the size of Fanboys’s former venue.
Owner Michael Rogers says the move was not planned. “The actual landlord is the same landlord for the Camp Bowie location, and they asked us to move because they wanted to put another business where we are now.”
Fanboys will be able to accommodate almost 10 times their current number of sellers with the additional space.
“We have about 38 vendors now, but we can have probably between 330 to 340,” Rogers says.
Multiverse Comics, J & S Pops, Jewelry with a Smile, Howling Mouse, and Scrappy Rabbit are only a small selection of the vendors shoppers can expect to see. In the store, shoppers will be able to choose from a wide array of products, including collectibles, comic books, board games, and costumes.
Fanboys Comic Con was scheduled for 25 shows last year, but all were canceled due to COVID-19. In response, Fanboys Marketplace opened its first location at 3000 S. Hulen St., Ste. 136, in June of last year to enable vendors to continue to sell and make an income.
“I like that we’re giving small businesses an opportunity to make money outside of their 9 to 5 job. We’re helping people make ends meet. That’s what we’re trying to do — give people an opportunity for a better life,” Rogers says.
Fanboys Marketplace will be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon – 5 p.m. on Sunday.
