Fort Worth Camera's previous location at Montgomery Street. The camera shop is expected to move to Camp Bowie Boulevard in October.
Don't get them wrong — Fort Worth Camera owner Jeff Masure and general manager MacKenzie Hughes loved the eye-catching architecture of their Montgomery Street store. But the location did have its limitations, particularly when it came to parking during its popular photography events.
So, in October, Fort Worth Camera will be moving out of the Cultural District and heading to the West Side. Represented by broker Bill Behr at Transwestern, Fort Worth Camera signed a lease with TCRG Properties at 6483 Camp Bowie Blvd., occupying a 5,562-square-foot space right next to Wild Acre and the Lazy Daisy Coffee Bar. Meanwhile, the Montgomery Street building has been sold to Carter Industrial Park, which plans to lease out the space.
"The reset is actually phenomenal," Masure says. "It pumps new blood into opportunities for the camera store."
Fort Worth Camera's Camp Bowie location will retain the modern aesthetic — but brighter, with more local photography decorating the walls, Hughes says. Professional and amateur photographers alike can expect the same services and product selection, as well as an expanded inventory of videography equipment.
Additional plans include partnerships with Camp Bowie-area neighbors for events. Archie's Gardenland, for example, has previously served as a backdrop for Fort Worth Camera's photography classes — now the venue is just across the street.
"We're really looking forward to being here and stepping on the gas, taking things to the next level," Hughes says.
