A visit to the Fort Worth Zoo is not complete without seeing Tamba, the zoo's 10-year-old warthog. In fact, during my visit last weekend, almost every toddler shouted "Pumbaa!" emphatically at any animal that slightly resembled the beloved character in The Lion King.
Today, the warthog was supposed to be the center of attention as fans waited for his prediction of the winner of Super Bowl XLVII. Zoo staff provided him with two specially made oversized footballs filled with treats. Tamba is on exhibit with two Grant's zebras, Henry and Missy, in the African Diorama. It looks like the zebras stole the show (and his treats) choosing the Baltimore Ravens to leave NOLA as winners.
Tamba ordinarily lives harmoniously with the zebras, according to a news release. He was left with the untouched San Francisco 49ers ball and with one tusk thrust, he tore into the ball. A fast-wagging tail indicated his delight with the California team.

Since 1998, the Fort Worth Zoo's animals have been predicting Super Bowl champs. Last year, the Zoo's greater one-horned rhino, Arun, correctly predicted that the New York Giants would win the big game.
