Taylor Sheridan
His name has become synonymous with the title of his most popular TV show, “Yellowstone.”
No, its not Kevin Costner.
Believe it or not Taylor Sheridan lives in the zeitgeist of the modern western as more of a celebrity than the stars on his own shows. Over the past few years, he has received his share of accolades to boot. In November of 2022 Sheridan received the Larry McMurtry Award. A few months after that, he was also presented with the Lone Star State’s highest honor for achievement in the arts, the Texas Medal of Arts Award. This week, Sheridan is being honored Cowtown-style, with his own bronze star.
That’s right, visitors to the Stockyards’ National Historic District will soon have an opportunity to step on the celebrity’s name, compliments of the Texas Trail of Fame, Inc.
Sheridan is among eight other inductees to receive a bronze star this year, which include the musicians of the country music group Asleep at the Wheel, and late pioneer Mary Overton Burke, to name a few.
Over the past 25 years, the Texas Trail of Fame, Inc. has placed more than 250 large bronze stars in the sidewalks of the Fort Worth Stockyards as a way to commemorate important representatives of Western culture and traditions, according to a release.
“The Trail began in 1997 and has become a key feature of the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District experience which is enjoyed by more than six million visitors each year,” says Brad Gandy, president of the Texas Trail of Fame, Inc. “
The induction ceremony and dinner ushering the newly named honorees into the fold will be held on October 26, at Billy Bob’s Texas. This black tie/ fancy western attire event is open to the public, but seating is limited. Doors open at 5 p.m. — dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $150 each, plus raffle tickets for a Henry Big Boy Classic .44 Mag/.44 Spl rifle will also be available. Tickets are limited and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis, with all proceeds benefitting the Texas Trail of Fame.
The Unveiling Ceremony for the stars will take place two days later during the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering, on Saturday, October 28, at 10 a.m. in front of the Livestock Exchange Building. The drawing for the rifle will also take place at that time.
“It is a thrill to meet the individuals who are joining the prestigious Texas Trail of Fame,” Gandy says. “This year marks 26 years of educating and entertaining visitors about the individuals, organizations, groups and animals that are important representatives of our Western culture and traditions.
