Perrone Pharmacy
Perrone Pharmacy, along with its staple neon sign, has been around since 1952. Founder Paul Perrone opened the place up after serving in World War II and experiencing D-Day, promising that if he survived, he would help people for the rest of his life.
He made well on his promise, according to daughter Paula Perrone, the pharmacy's current owner.
Almost 70 years later, Perrone Pharmacy is expanding. The new location will be at 4737 Camp Bowie Blvd., the former Wag Canine Emporium Space, right in the heart of the Camp Bowie district. Perrone says this location will act as a satellite pharmacy not far from the flagship at Highway 377 South, hopefully making the commute easier for customers and those who live in the Arlington Heights area, since the other location is further out.
The Camp Bowie location will offer similar services such as compounding — so if you have a child who can’t tolerate a pill to swallow, the pharmacy can create the medication in liquid form, essentially personalizing it. To help customers who buy over-the-counter wellness products, the pharmacy also has a database that can show how the patient's medications may interact with the supplement.
“The main thing is that we want to help our communities stay healthy and get well as they may be recovering from a condition, but we also want them to learn more about taking good care of themselves and their families,” Perrone says. “That’s what we’ve done for almost 70 years, and hopefully we do it for another 70.”
There is no date set for the grand opening, but Perrone says it should be around Labor Day.
