Huguley Memorial Hospital in southern Tarrant County joined Texas Health Resources, which announced a 10-year collaboration with medical data company Healthways.
Huguley Memorial Hospital in Burleson is under new management. The Adventist Health System (to which Huguley belongs) entered into a joint venture with Texas Health Resources, who will own controlling interest.
A press release on Texas Health Resources" and Huguley Memorial Hospital's Web site said Texas Health is establishing information exchange with Huguley, which will gradually adopt the Texas Health Resources brand.
The joint venture expands the Texas Health network south along the I-35W corridor. The growth of that area exceeds the national average, according to a press release.
The Texas Health Resources network spans North Texas and now includes 24 hospitals. It is one of the largest faith-based health services systems in the country.
In the release, Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, said, "it makes sense for us to look for opportunities to collaborate with other health systems to improve the health of our communities."
To that end, Texas Health Resources is undertaking another collaborative effort. According to a press release, medical data and technology company Healthways will provide Texas Health Resources with tools and data-driven processes that help physicians identify patterns and needs in the local population, while simultaneously providing information tailored to address specific patients.
This system seeks to personalize clinical care, encouraging patient proactivity in their health, while expanding physicians" perception of community-wide health needs. This will hopefully lead to more preventative care. The anticipated results after Healthways" implementation include a reduction in per capita health-related risk, lower morbidity and lower medical costs.
But with 24 hospitals and Healthways" data-driven tools, perhaps Texas Health Resources will make the whole North Texas community a little healthier.
