With rolling power outages impacting the city's ability to treat water, over 200,000 residents in North Fort Worth are being asked to boil their water before consumption.
The City of Fort Worth extended its boil water notice early Tuesday morning in light of the recent winter storm that's left 3 – 6 inches of snow and thousands without power. According to the city, rolling blackouts impacted treatment pumping facilities, plants, and pump stations; and subfreezing temperatures are impacting equipment.
The boil water notice affects the northern third of the city, bounded on the west by the River Oaks, Lake Worth, and Eagle Mountain Lake; the southern boundary extending almost to Northside Drive; and the eastern boundary being the city limits.
The map below illustrates which areas of Fort Worth are affected.

Nine cites that buy drinking water from Fort Worth (Haslet, Keller, Lake Worth, Northlake, Roanoke, Saginaw, Southlake, Trophy Club, and Westlake) have also been notified.
The city recommends bringing water to a vigorous rolling boil then boiled for two minutes in order to destroy harmful bacteria. Or, as an alternative, residents can also simply purchase bottled water or obtain water from another safe source.
Public water system officials will notify residents when the boil water notice is no longer in effect, likely late Wednesday.
Residents can direct questions to the city's water customer service at 817-392-4477 or via email ([email protected]).
