vaccine
JPS Health Network is rolling out the next phase of COVID-19 vaccinations, which now includes not just health care workers but also JPS vendors, immediate family members in an employee’s home, and JPS patients.
Those who wish to receive the vaccine must either be 65 and older or 18 and older with at least one chronic medical condition (i.e., cancer, Type 2 diabetes mellitus, heart conditions, etc.) that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19. Anyone who does not meet the criteria will be turned away.
The Moderna vaccine (recommended to those 18 and older, per the FDA) is available at three of JPS' clinic locations, due to storage requirements.
According to JPS, when the vaccine was first made available Wednesday, all 350 appointment slots were filled immediately after registration opened.
