Key Center for Learning Differences
The Key Center for Learning Differences' 20,000-square-foot facility will be located on John T. White Boulevard off Interstate 30 and Cooks Lane.
The Key Center for Learning Differences (KCLD) is making a change with hopes to be better able to serve students dealing with dyslexia, ADHD, and other differences in the Fort Worth area.
KCLD is moving to a new facility that will better suit the needs of the center. The nonprofit runs multiple programs for students with learning differences, including the Key School, Key School Core Online, and Key School Academic Language Therapy.
The new 20,000-square-foot facility will be located on John T. White Boulevard off Interstate 30 and Cooks Lane. The facility will include private language therapy rooms, outdoor classrooms, and flexible learning spaces in addition to mock classrooms and observation areas that will allow educators to watch the students as they work with their language therapists.
“The new location will provide the much-needed space and environment for students, staff, and community members,” Melissa Davis, KCLD board president, said in a statement. “The KCLD board will continue to drive the core objective, literacy, that Key is known for, but also strive to have a broader outreach to the DFW community.”

KCLD began its work in Fort Worth in 1966, opening its current location off East Loop 820 in 1996. The new facility is part of the 2017 KCLD-approved $12 million capital campaign to buy property to meet the growing demands of the center. According to KCLD, the organization will remodel and move into the new facility debt-free.
“As a former student and Key School parent myself, I am thrilled for our learning differences community of families and educators to have a new home,” Carla Brumley Brown, interim KCLD executive director, said in a statement. “Our new campus will enable us to optimize our services and allow for growth while maintaining Key’s foundational philosophies of low student-teacher ratios, individualized instruction, and language therapy.”
KCLD began construction shortly after they closed on the property on March 23. KCLD will move to the new facility in the fall.
