Panther City Lacrosse Club head coach Tracey Kelusky
With Fort Worth's first National Lacrosse League (NLL) team starting play this fall, Panther City Lacrosse Club has announced its first head coach — Tracey Kelusky.
Kelusky hails from Philadelphia, where he previously served as offensive coach for the Philadelphia Wings. There, he oversaw the highest-scoring offense in the league during the 2019 – 2020 season.
Prior to his stint with the Wings, Kelusky served as assistant coach for the New England Blackwolves. He also played for 14 years — with the Columbus Landsharks, Montreal Express, Calgary Roughnecks, Buffalo Bandits, and Philadelphia Wings — racking up 383 goals, 440 assists, and 823 points in 195 games. Kelusky won two Champion's Cups in 2004 and 2009, and was named NLL All-Star MVP in 2005.
He was also the No. 1 overall pick in the 2000 NLL Entry Draft, coming out of the University of Hartford, and became the 2000 – 2001 NLL Rookie of the Year.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to assist in leading the Panther City franchise to become a championship caliber team in the NLL," Kelusky said in a statement. "I know the entire group is committed to bringing a successful franchise into the state of Texas, and there is lots of work to be done. Alongside our strong leadership group of [vice president of lacrosse operations and general manager] Bob Hamley and [Fort Worth NLL managing partner] Greg Bibb, we will build a team that is an attractive place to play for the world’s best lacrosse players."
Panther City Lacrosse Club is expected to play its first season at Dickies Arena in November. Ticket information is available here.
