So long, social distancing.
Capacity is back to 100% for TCU's outdoor athletics events on campus, TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Jeremiah Donati announced Wednesday.
According to TCU, the decision to return to 100% capacity was "expedited by the increase in number of individuals vaccinated as well as declining cases of COVID-19. Though not expected, any changes to the expanded capacity would be driven by updates in CDC or local guidance." Face masks will be recommended but not required, and cleaning and sanitizing stations will remain in place.
Granted, there aren't any home contests scheduled at TCU for the remainder of the academic year. TCU, however, was recently announced as one of 20 potential host sites for the NCAA Regional baseball tournament next month; should the university be selected, 100% capacity will be implemented then.
In the fall, TCU football and women's soccer games will return to full capacity. Tailgating will also be allowed at home football games.
“We are very excited about returning to 100% capacity because we know what it means to our fan experience and in providing a great home field advantage for our student-athletes,” Donati said in a statement. “With this great news, we will continue to follow all health and safety protocols with enhanced cleaning and sanitizing to ensure everyone feels secure about attending the games. We have outstanding leadership at TCU and would not be in this position without the guidance of our Campus Readiness Task Force.”
