Construction has begun for the Stop Six neighborhood's newest charter school.
Rocketship Public Schools Texas broke ground on the campus Wednesday. The public elementary school, located at 3520 E. Berry St., will stand at two stories with 22 classrooms; two learning labs for project-based, collaborative learning; and a separate gymnasium for physical education. Expected to open in August 2022, the school will serve grades Pre K to third in its first year, with plans to add fourth and fifth grade in the future.
According to Rocketship, the school is one of the first new major development investments in the southeast Berry Street neighborhood in more than a decade, and over 80% of the elementary schools within three miles of the site are rated C or below by the Texas Education Agency.

“This school will be a beacon of joy and opportunity for the entire Stop Six and Fort Worth community,” Rocketship Texas superintendent SaJade Miller said. “I’ve spent my entire career working with students and families to eliminate the achievement gap in Tarrant County, and this new school is another big step to make that dream a reality.”
The Stop Six campus will be Rocketship Texas' first project since receiving the green light in June from the Texas Commissioner and State Board of Education to open public elementary charter schools in Tarrant County.
The organization's founders include former Fort Worth ISD superintendent Walter Dansby, former Cook Children's Heathcare System board chairman Peter Philpott, AB Christian Learning founder Loretta Burns, and retired TXU Corp. vice president Alex Jiminez.
Rocketship plans to collaborate with parents in the naming of the school at a later date. More information about Rocketship Public Schools Texas is available at rocketshipschools.org/fortworth.
