We should’ve known something was going on when Professional Bull Riders (PBR) CEO and commissioner Sean Gleason handed Dr. Phil McGraw a championship PBR belt buckle in May. This meeting was to announce that Dr. Phil’s Merit Street Media, headquartered in Alliance, would carry PBR events on the network. Well, behind the scenes, it seems there was more method to this announcement than first thought.
It looks like the PBR was already poised for a move to Fort Worth after spending over 16 years headquartered in Pueblo, Colorado. That’s right folks, the PBR is, as of this week, officially headquartered in Fort Worth. Better yet, the new offices are located in the Mule Alley area just off of Exchange Avenue in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards.
This move seems fitting given the PBR’s presence in and around Fort Worth for years. In 2021, the PBR announced it would operate the Cowtown Coliseum and expand its entertainment programming along with its partners ASM Global and Fort Worth’s Stockyards Heritage Development Group. Another tea leaf to ponder over is the fact that the PBR moved its World Finals Championship from Las Vegas to — you guessed it — Fort Worth in 2021. Still inching its way to Where the West Begins, PBR reportedly moved 40 of its employees to Cowtown before the World Championship event.
“PBR, which had been based in Pueblo since 2007, has moved its official corporate headquarters to Fort Worth, Texas,” an official PBR statement read. “Fort Worth is the current location of the PBR World Finals, the Texas Rattlers competing in the PBR Camping World Team Series, our new television partner Merit Street Media, and the iconic Cowtown Coliseum, which features weekly events programmed by the organization.”
“Moving to the heart of cowboy country positions the sport for further expansion.”
PBR is currently amid the Teams season. Rattler Days in Fort Worth is scheduled for Sept 26 at Cowtown Coliseum and then heads over to Dickies Arena on Sept 27 and 28 – the penultimate event of the 12-event 2024 PBR Camping World Team Series regular season.
The next individual competition season, which begins in November, will conclude with the 2025 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast in the DFW area.
The sport’s most prestigious event will begin in Fort Worth at Cowtown Coliseum with Eliminations from May 8-11 and Ride For Redemption from May 14-15, concluding with the Championship in Arlington at AT&T Stadium from May 17-18.
“PBR has fulfilled our employment obligations to the city, bringing nearly two decades of jobs and exposure to Pueblo while the sport has grown rapidly,” the statement continued. “PBR will maintain a presence in the Riverwalk building into mid-2025.”
