Two big things happened to two Horned Frog alumni two days in a row.
First, it was former running back LaDainian Tomlinson. Tomlinson became the third Frog to be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, joining Sammy Baugh (1963) and Bob Lilly (1980). After being drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2001, Tomlinson spent nine years on the team, becoming an NFL MVP in 2006 with 1,815 rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns that season. He spent the final two years of his career with the New York Jets and is currently the NFL's fifth all-time leading rusher with 13,684 yards.
While at TCU, Tomlinson became the Frogs' all-time leading rusher with 5,263 yards. He graduated in 2005.
But wait, there's more -- the day after Tomlinson was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, fellow alumnus Marcus Cannon won his second Super Bowl ring. As the starting right tackle for the New England Patriots, he helped the team rally from a 25-point deficit to win the game 34-28 in overtime (the Frogs know a thing or two about comebacks, don't they?).
Cannon played for TCU from 2007-2010 and was part of the 2011 Rose Bowl championship team.
