An outlet mall planned for the Alliance area is no longer moving forward.
The Outlets at Alliance, a project by Fort Worth real estate developer The Woodmont Company, was meant to be located off Interstate 35 and State Highway 170, near Cabela's. However, with the Tanger Outlets already under construction just minutes away, Woodmont decided to no longer pursue the project, the company confirmed Friday.
"Tanger was able to get off of the ground and there is only room for one outlet," Woodmont Chairman Stephen Coslik wrote in an email to Fort Worth Magazine.
The Fort Worth City Council approved $20 million of incentives for the project last year. The Tanger Outlets, too, received approval for city incentives worth $56 million. The city does not grant funding until the project is completed.
