Tarleton State University President F. Dominic Dottavio announced plans yesterday, Dec. 8, to build a new Tarleton campus in Fort Worth, along the new Chisholm Trail Parkway at Old Granbury Road.
Tarleton wants to provide a permanent home for its Fort Worth programs and create the ability to expand in the proposed 125,000-square-foot building.
The Walton Group of Companies donated 80 acres to Tarleton for the proposed project. Walton is a family-owned real estate development and investment group. The university will seek state funding in the amount of $55 million, in the upcoming legislative session, for the building of the new campus.
Tarleton is currently the only public university offering a bachelor's degree in Fort Worth and experienced 10-20 percent growth in annual enrollment in recent years, according the Tarleton State. The university is a member of The Texas A&M University System.
