The NCAA announced the schedule Tuesday for TCU's Super Regional rematch against Texas A&M. The first pitch will be thrown out at 8 p.m. CST on ESPN2 Friday, pulling the prime time slot .
TCU (45-15) and Texas A&M (48-14) will face off in a Super Regional for the second consecutive year.
"We know we're going to face a great club in probably a great environment," TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle said. "That's an awesome life experience, man."
At last year's Super Regional, TCU and Texas A&M battled it out at Lupton Stadium, resulting in a Horned Frog victory in game three with a walk-off win in 16 innings. No doubt, the Aggies are ready to host the Horned Frogs on their own turf.
And if last year's dramatic match up wasn't enough, add the story of A&M third baseman and Southeastern Conference player of the year Boomer White. The former Horned Frog abruptly transferred to A&M without explanation in 2014 after playing with the Frogs in the College World Series. TCU fans have made no secret of their disdain for the move. And White hasn't exactly kept quiet either, often retaliating via his Twitter account.
TCU went 3-0 in regional play (defeating Oral Roberts, Gonzaga and Arizona State), advancing to their sixth NCAA Super Regional in the last eight seasons.
This year's regional produced much less drama than the 2015 version. The Horned Frogs beat ASU (36-23) 8-1 Sunday night at Lupton Stadium winning the NCAA regional at home for the third year in a row. Brian Howard retired the final 17 batters and tossed 8 innings of one-run baseball. He struck out a career-high-tying nine batters with no walks. Brain Trieglaff closed out the game by tossing a scoreless inning.
