At least three sets of twins born in different years (that is, one born on New Year's Eve and the other on New Year's Day) were reported over the weekend, and one of them is from right here in North Texas.
Jordan Jeremy Sanchez and J'aiden Michael Sanchez were delivered on Dec. 31, 2016, and Jan. 1, 2017, respectively, at Medical City Arlington. Jordan was delivered naturally at 11:46 p.m., weighing 6 pounds and 3 ounces, while J'aiden was born by cesarean section at 12:12 a.m., weighing 5 pounds and 4 ounces. J'aiden was the first baby born at Medical City Arlington in 2017.
The boys are the third set of twins of this generation on their father's side.
"I definitely was not expecting to spend the holiday in hospital, but I'm glad they're here and healthy," mother Cassandra Martinez said. “Way better than the ball drop!”
According to a news release, the chances of having twins born in separate years could be as rare as one in a million.
