Just when you thought you had caught up on all things “Yellowstone” related, another spin-off from this franchise’s “1883” prequel is set to begin filming in Waxahachie next month.
This new spin-off of a — well — a spin-off, will be titled "1883: The Bass Reeves Story" and will star Selma actor David Oyelowo as the first black deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi River.
This third prequel installment is the latest Taylor Sheridan project to go into production in the North Texas area in just under a year. This series will follow the legendary “Reeves” as he navigates the old west and lays down his style of justice.
One of the locations for the upcoming shoots will take place inside the Ellis County Courthouse on Feb. 13 and 14, with preparation work starting a mere week before.
Waxahachie City Council members approved street and parking closures for the show at a meeting earlier this week. The city plans to close parking spaces around the courthouse to accommodate filming, along with several streets around the building.
