Official Tequila of the Horned Frogs
La Pulga Spirits continues to bring newness to the table with two of its latest releases. Just a few weeks ago, it was announced that La Pulga is now the first-ever “Official Tequila of the Horned Frogs” under a new partnership with TCU Athletics. Additionally, the brand has just announced the release of its sotol, made from the wild dasylirion plant, which thrives in the high deserts of northern Mexico.
Let’s start with the purple. La Pulga tequilas are now available in the clubs and suites of Amon G. Carter Stadium and in the Stuart Family Courtside. Additionally, to celebrate the TCU sponsorship, La Pulga released a limited-edition blanco tequila, complete with a distinctive purple-and-white label proclaiming it as the “Official Tequila of Horned Frogs Nation.” The 2024 limited edition is selling fast across DFW spirits retailers. If you haven’t already, make sure to grab a bottle before it’s gone.
“La Pulga spirits are all distilled and bottled in Mexico, with the company based right here in Fort Worth, a city we’re privileged to call home,” says Andrew De La Torre, one of La Pulga’s founders and a proud TCU alum. “TCU is a longstanding source of pride in Fort Worth, and cheering on the Frogs is a way of life here, so this partnership is the perfect way to reinforce our camaraderie and support for our shared Fort Worth community.”

La Pulga Sotol Silver
Now onto the sotol—a unique spirit that offers a taste both complex and unforgettable. With roots tracing back over 800 years, sotol is a spirit steeped in history. La Pulga continues this legacy, honoring traditional methods to embrace the natural flavors of the raw materials while embracing innovation and sustainable harvesting to preserve the unique ecosystem of the Chihuahua Desert region. The smooth and balanced sotol has a vibrant and rich flavor with earthy, herbal tones blended with hints of citrus and a touch of smoky sweetness.
La Pulga Spirits takes its name from “La Pulga” outdoor market on University Drive that serves as a gateway to the Northside of Fort Worth, one of the oldest open-air flea markets in the U.S. The brand was founded locally by three Fort Worth entrepreneurs: Andrew De La Torre, a club owner and the operator of the Pulga market; Sarah Castillo, a well-known and respected Fort Worth restaurateur (Taco Heads, Tinies Mexican Cuisine, Sidesaddle Saloon); and Stephen Slaughter, a local entrepreneur and real estate developer.
