With lavender-infused pillows, Fort Worth-branded ice cubes, and glasses designed for the perfect pour, downtown’s upcoming hotel has found luxury in the details.
The Fort Worth AC Hotel by Marriott is slated to open near Sundance Square this fall. At 16 stories with 242 rooms, the European-inspired hotel will feature the AC Lounge, a communal space that contains a full bar serving local beers and hand-crafted cocktails, along with tapas. The lounge will have a second-story balcony view of Sundance Square.
According to Joe Blewitt, vice president of asset management for developer Jackson-Shaw, connectivity and community are a major part of the atmosphere Jackson-Shaw hopes to cultivate at the hotel.
“Main Street is so active in Fort Worth,” he says. “We really want to capture that community.”
In the spirit of highlighting the Fort Worth community in the design of the hotel, the AC Hotel is working with the Arts Council of Fort Worth to incorporate an installation piece by a local artist. Jackson-Shaw is currently deciding among three resident artists.
The hotel will also include two restaurants on the first floor, a 24-hour wellness center, and a library. According to Blewitt, the library will be a soothing environment featuring an eclectic selection of books meant to allow guests to relax and unwind. The restaurants have not yet been selected.
This hotel is one of many collaborations between AC Hotels president Antonio Catalan and Marriott International; however, it is the first AC Hotel to come to the Fort. Sundance Square was the chosen location for the hotel because Fort Worth is a rapidly growing area, and with that growth comes an increase in demand for hotels, Blewitt says.
“The AC Hotel evokes a feeling of a well-curated art gallery," Blewitt says. "Not because of our art pieces — though we have great art pieces as well — but because every detail of the hotel has been selected to add something specific to our ambiance."
