if your self-isolation stash is running low on milk, eggs, produce, or anything else, here are five places that may be able to fulfill your needs.
Grocery stores can be scary these days. Besides the risk of exposure to COVID-19, there’s a decent chance you’ll put in all the effort to don pants, get in the car, make the trip — and not find what you’re looking for. Especially if it’s toilet paper.
Perhaps the solution is to shop smaller — pay a little more, possibly, but it will leave you heading home with success and supplies to survive another day. And you’ll be helping a local business fighting to stay afloat in these turbulent times.
So, if your self-isolation stash is running low on milk, eggs, produce, or anything else, here are five places that may be able to fulfill your needs.
(Of course, item availability can be unpredictable these days, so it’s probably a good idea to call before making the trip.)
Neighbor’s House Grocery
500 W. Seventh St., Ste. 175, 817-334-0526
Go for: Toilet paper, paper towels, bread, eggs, milk, produce, other groceries
You don’t even have to step into Neighbor’s House Grocery downtown. Actually, don’t — you’re not supposed to. Neighbor’s House is offering a downloadable grocery list. Just check off what items you need, email it to [email protected], and the store will call you when your order is ready for curbside pickup. And yes. They. Have. Toilet. Paper.
Sunflower Shoppe
5817 Curzon Ave., 817-738-9051
3529 Heritage Trace Parkway, Ste. 113, 817-741-6799
Go for: Cleaning products, immunity boosters, eggs, other groceries
Sunflower Shoppe has natural household cleaning products, as well as food like frozen chicken and eggs. Perhaps pick up some elderberry supplements while you’re at it — good for the immune system.
Meyer & Sage
2621 Whitmore St., 817-386-5009
Go for: Raw meat, hand sanitizer, pre-made meals
Meyer & Sage has been known for its pre-made meals and grab-and-go, but the shop has recently expanded its offerings to include Lone Star Meats, along with hand sanitizer from Foundry District neighbor Blackland Distillery.
Ol’ South Pancake House
1509 S. University Drive, 817-336-0311
Go for: Milk, eggs, meat, limited produce
Besides the usual Dutch Baby, Ol’ South is also serving items out of its “Breakfast Pantry,” like potatoes, onions, lemons, sausages, ribeyes, and (most importantly) bacon — which is a big deal, because bacon is seriously hard to find right now.
Roots Coffeehouse
400 Bryan Ave., 817-349-8059
Go for: Pasta, bread, coffee, other items
Yes, Roots is offering a limited selection of grocery items at its coffee shop. Vegan pasta and sourdough bread from The Proof Bakery, as well as chocolate and coffee (duh), can be ordered online and picked up curbside.
