This weekend boasts holy musicals, art, and a chance for Fort Worth to share the glory with Panther City BBQ having a world record.
1. Jesus Christ Superstar
Jesus Christ Superstar stops by Bass Hall on its 50th Anniversary revival tour. The show is in town until the 17th, so this marks the last weekend you can check out the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, which tells the story of Jesus Christ through rock ballads, top-tier dance moves, and gracious acting. Check Bass Hall’s full performance schedule here.
525 Commerce St.
2. Jazz on the Green
Enjoy live jazz and wine and beer on the Kimbell lawn for this week’s Jazz on the Green, which will feature Tatiana “LadyMay” Mayfield. Special vendors include Luckey G’s Bistro, Salsa Limón, and Melt Ice Creams. And, due to extreme heat, outside beverages will be allowed.
Friday, July 15, 5:30 p.m.
3333 Camp Bowie Blvd.
3. BBQ Marathon at Panther City BBQ
Panther City BBQ is looking to notch its place in the Guinness Book of World Records, as the celebrated barbecue joint will be smoking meat for 40-plus hours to break the record of longest barbecue marathon. The pitmasters will be continuously smoking meats for nearly two full days — all in the Texas heat, mind you — to break the previous record. Anyone is welcome to swing by, where they’ll provide patrons with specialty menu items, giveaways, trivia, and drink specials.

4. Friday Jazz Night and Saturday Art Opening at WineHaus
Not to be outdone by Kimbell’s Jazz on the Green, WineHaus, the boutique wine shop and bar, will be having a Friday night jazz showcase of their own. And the following night, the Near Southside joint will exhibit the works of local artist Sophia Ceballos. The artist, who will be in attendance, will showcase some of her new mixed media and watercolor works.
Friday Night Jazz: June 15, 7 – 10 p.m.
Sophia Ceballos Art Opening: June 16, 6 – 9 p.m.
1628 Park Place Ave.
5. Glizzy Fest: A Celebration of Hot Dogs at Martin House Brewing Co.
You read that right, there’s a celebration of hot dogs going on at Martin House Brewing this Saturday. The festival will feature three food trucks whose menu items, not surprisingly, include hot dogs, sausage, and barbecue. It wouldn’t be a hot dog fest without a hot dog feast. Those brave — and hungry — enough can participate in a hot dog-eating contest. Martin House will also be tapping into their unique batch of Best Maid Mustard Relish Pickle Beer — how apropos — and releasing a hot dog seltzer.
