Fans of Taylor Sheridan’s style of westerns might have something to look forward two after the finale of “Yellowstone” season 5B premieres in November.
That’s right folks, rumor has it that none other than legendary actor Kurt Russell is in negotiations to star in yet another “Yellowstone” spinoff, according to deadline.com.
But Russell is only one of two other names that people might recognize attached to this project. Veteran actress Michelle Pfeiffer, and “Suits” actor Patrick J. Adams are also said to be in negotiations with this project.
As usual with these types of speculations, nothing has been confirmed by MTV Entertainment Studios, who are in charge of producing the “Yellowstone” series along with 101 Studios. But like the old saying goes, where there’s smoke, there’s probably a “Yellowstone” spinoff a brewing.
The new show is rumored to be called “The Madison,” which once had a working title of “2024.” According to tvshowscase.com, this new series follows a wealthy matriarch name Stacy Clyburn as she leaves New York with her family and heads to Montana. This follows tragic deaths in the family via a plane crash.
Production on this spinoff is slated to start later this August, which would put its premiere somewhere in 2025 possibly following the end of “Yellowstone.”
This news leaves the new “Yellowstone” series said to star Matthew McConaughey up in the air. Last year, rumors of McConaughey starring in what was labeled the “6666” spinoff surfaced during a dispute Sheridan and “Yellowstone” star Kevin Costner were having about scheduling the final scenes for the season finale of “Yellowstone.”
It’s unclear if Russell is replacing McConaughey or what McConaughey’s future is in the “Yellowstone” world. However, during an April 2023 interview on the “Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard,” the “Mud” actor said, “I am now becoming more interested in actually going to play another character in a movie or a TV show. The idea of going to act in the right role or the right movie, film or series right now, I’ll be a different or improved actor in my own right after these last three years.”
Whatever the outcome, it seems fans of this neo-western drama are ready for more of what Sheridan has in store, even in the face of possibly over saturating the market.
