With my family out of the crazy end-of-school-year vortex and rolling nicely into a good summer routine, I can finally get back to the computer and do what I love most, sharing the latest and greatest offerings in Fort Worth with design and entertaining tips on the side.
Several weeks ago I dropped by JRae’s to pick up a custom cookie order and noticed a darling vintage clothing store right next door. As I walked by the eye-catching window display, I couldn’t help but wander in for a quick peek! And boy I’m glad I did! It felt like I just walked into my closet from high school and beyond - in a good way. This wasn’t just some gross junk vintage store, this was the mecca for designer goodies from decades past! I saw a variety of classic styles and brands, from one-of-a-kind dresses of the 50’s, to high end designer pieces from the 70’s era to present.
As I perused the color-coded sections of clothes, wonderful childhood memories started pouring in. Way back in the day while living under my parents roof, mom would take me to Dallas once a year for a fab boutique shopping trip. We would hit all the super special spots in and around town and update my wardrobe. Ahh, the good old days. You just don’t appreciate them until they are gone. What I wouldn’t do for mom to take me to Dallas and my parents pick up the tab like that again.
Oh, yes! I was the QUEEN of Adrienne Vittadini and Margaretha Ley Escada. I absolutely adored novelty clothing back then and still do! In fact, my current wardrobe is primarily just that, individual statement pieces. I’ve never really been much of a mixer and matcher of garments when it comes to style.
So guess what? After I left ReVint, with a purchase in hand of course, I ran home and peeled through my closet looking for anything and everything I didn’t wear anymore. The mother-unload is now on display in their Foch Street location (pronounce however you want, but I still think it’s a stupid street name).
Sixty-six pieces from my closet will be displayed for the next 2 weeks from designers like Carolina Herrera, Christian Lacroix, Ralph Lauren, Escada and Adrienne Vittadini, to name a few. There will be something for everyone, ranging from “high school skinny” to “baby weight behemoth”! And the best part? 10% of sales will go directly to charity. And it doesn't stop there! For the next 2 weeks, with your purchase of any item in the store, you can enter into a drawing for one of three certificates valued at $25, $50 and $100! It’s a win-win-win!
