It won't be long before Fort Worthians can stroll through the roses again.
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden announced it will reopen June 1 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays only, with the first and last hour of the day (8 – 9 a.m. and 5 – 6 p.m.) reserved for GROW members. The garden plans to reopen on weekends starting June 13.
“We know that people are excited to get back outdoors and enjoy some fresh air surrounded by the beauty of the Garden,” garden director Bob Byers said in a statement. “We’re delighted to reopen our gates.”
Guests, staff, and volunteers will be screened prior to entering the property; and the garden will limit admission to 25% normal capacity, with just 300 individuals admitted to the property each hour (150 front entrance, 150 back lot entrance near Interstate 30).
Also operating at limited capacity will be the the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT), which will limit capacity to 25% normal occupancy (164 maximum per day), and the Trellis Gift Shop, which will allow only four guests at a time. The Garden Center will remain closed except for ticketing and restrooms, and garden paths will be one-way only.
Social distancing and the wearing of face masks will be encouraged, and guests can purchase masks at the Trellis Gift Shop.
To allow for contactless payment and specific entry times, visitors must purchase tickets online in advance. More information can be found on the garden's website.
The Botanic Garden also recently announced that BRIT will begin managing the garden effective Oct. 1.
"There's a brighter future on the horizon with this agreement,” Byers said in a statement. “Bringing together BRIT’s fundraising, education and world-class research capabilities with the garden’s historically significant grounds, event facilities, and horticultural expertise will create one of the leading public gardens in America.”
