The Near Southside always has something going on – one of those things is a hotel.
California-based developer Bond Partners is working with Fort Worth architecture firm Bennett Benner Partners and landowner Mike Dolabi to bring a boutique hotel to the Near Southside. The hotel will be built along Henderson Street between Magnolia Avenue and Oleander Street, and will be an independent boutique hotel not run by a major brand, said Michael Bennett, principal and CEO of Bennett Benner Partners.
Finalized drawings of the hotel are not yet available, but Bennett said the plan is to build something that matches the eclectic character of the area, “not just some cookie cutter, out-of-the-box” hotel.
Initial plans for the hotel have part of the building at six stories, with the other part at four stories, for a total of 138 rooms. The hotel will also have a restaurant and bar, as well as courtyards in the middle for recreation and possible outdoor dining, Bennett said.
Before the project can begin, developers need to get approval for a zoning change for the area, since the current zoning does not allow hotels. The city's Zoning Commission will discuss the case on Dec. 14 before it goes to the Fort Worth City Council for final approval.
