Although it is our distinct honor to place some of the biggest movers and shakers in Fort Worth on our magazine covers, it’s our turn to long for the same privilege. Thats right, this places you, the reader, in the very real seat of a photo editor, or in this case a calendar photo editor.
However, instead of trying to meet real world deadlines in a high stress newsroom environment, all you have to do to is scan a QR code.
So, what does this have to do with us being on the cover of a calendar?
For over a decade now, Fort Worth Magazine has participated in the Bras for a Cause charity event, a local non-profit organization committed to raising funds to help eradicate all forms of cancer.
This is done through several avenues, one of which is a fundraising event. This year’s local Bras for a Cause gala taking place at the River Ranch Stockyards located at 500 NE 23rd St. on Oct. 18, will be one to remember.
Basically, this event showcases intricately decorated bras created by local artists that will be worn by a select group of all male first responders.
You get the hint.
Our submission this year has a lighter than air medieval motif equipped with a set of fully retractable wings.
You have our permission to be impressed.
A silent auction will be held, as some of Fort Worth’s finest take to the catwalk to display each submission, with the funds raised going directly to cancer research. Although there isn’t a ranking system at this type of event, the greatest honor for a participating artist is being picked for the cover of the following year’s Bras for a Cause calendar. Click here to vote.
Besides voting on your favorite bra submission, the person who actually wins the bid for our bra, designed and created by our very own senior art director Spray Gleaves, will get another prize. The winning bidder will also appear in a Thank You AD featuring the winner’s photo along with the bra.
Talk about holiday bragging rights.
The DFW Bras for a Cause event started in Grapevine over ten years ago, with a mission to help raise funds that will in turn support cancer patients and survivors. Most of the funds raised by this 501(c)3 help organizations like Baylor Scott & White, Cancer Care Services, and Careity Foundation. The event celebrates creativity, collaboration, and the power of giving back, ensuring its lasting impact on cancer patients and survivors in the Fort Worth community and beyond.
