After more than a year, Broadway productions are finally returning to Bass Performance Hall.
Bass Hall announced its 2021 – 2022 Broadway at the Bass season on Monday, with a six-show lineup that carries over many of the performances that were postponed last year due to COVID-19.
The season will kick off in October with "Come From Away," followed by "Cats" in November. Highly anticipated Broadway hits "Dear Evan Hansen" and "Hamilton," a season add-on, will run between January and February 2022. The rest of the season also features Rodgers & Hammerstein’s "Oklahoma!" and "Jesus Christ Superstar," along with a new show not on last year's lineup, the musical adaptation of cult film "Mean Girls."
“Today marks an important milestone as we look ahead and prepare for an exciting 2021 – 2022 season,” Performing Arts Fort Worth president and CEO Dione Kennedy said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring back many of the shows that had been scheduled prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as add a new show into the mix."
According to Performing Arts Fort Worth, which runs Bass Hall, conservations with other local arts organizations are currently taking place to discuss reduced capacity and socially distanced performances in Bass Hall this summer in preparation for the new season starting this fall. The most current protocols are outlined here.
The goal is to present full-capacity performances by the time the Broadway season starts in October, Kennedy said.
"We can’t wait to welcome audiences back to Bass Hall this fall, and our top priority is providing a safe environment to enjoy live theater together again," Kennedy said. "We will continue to follow CDC and industry health and safety guidelines as we refine our reopening plans with leaders in science, technology, and medicine."
According to Bass Hall, current 2020 – 2021 Broadway at the Bass season ticket holders have until June 21 to renew and keep their seats, and new season tickets go on sale July 15. All ticket information is available at basshall.com.
