Anime Frontier is a Japanese pop culture convention organized by LeftField Media, creators of Anime NYC.
Pack up your Poké Balls, Moon Sticks, and any Gundam suits you have casually lying around — a new anime convention is coming to Cowtown that promises to "go beyond" expectations. (Plus ultra, we're guessing.)
Anime Frontier is coming to the Fort Worth Convention Center on Dec. 3 – 5, brought to Texas for the first time by LeftField Media, the creators of New York anime convention Anime NYC, and title sponsor Crunchyroll, one of the world's largest anime streaming services.
And it's going to be huge — Anime NYC attracts generally about 50,000 fans, and Anime Frontier organizers are expecting a similar turnout. More than 100 anime companies and publishers will have a presence, along with fan artists, cosplayers, and other special guests. Panels and meet-and-greet opportunities will allow fans to interact with the English voice actors of their favorite characters, including Sean Schemmel (Goku) and Christopher Sabat (Vegeta) from "Dragon Ball," Zach Aguilar (Tanjiro) from "Demon Slayer," Bryce Papenbrook (Eren Jaeger) from "Attack on Titan," Anairis Quiñones (Mirko) from "My Hero Academia," and Max Mittelman (Saitama) from "One-Punch Man."
There will also be an Itasha car showcase, video game tournaments, and main stage cosplay competition (dubbed the "Anime Frontier Masquerade"), along with "a big musical experience" that'll remain under wraps until Oct. 5.
Anime Frontier was originally scheduled to take place in May 2020 but, like many other events, found itself postponed due to COVID-19. While organizers have not yet announced specific COVID-19 protocols, according to Anime Frontier, "the anime community will once again have a safe, inclusive space to share in their love and passion for all things anime."
