You might be asking...So, what is the Saving Hope Foundation? The inspirational story of Hope, a pug-mix, who was found with her muzzle taped shut, her tongue protruding and swollen. She was suffering from extreme dehydration, and she had been stabbed multiple times. She was wandering alone on the Moncrief Ranch in Parker County, staring death in the face, but the power of love and perseverance prevailed. It took only four days – and 100 stitches – for Hope to begin eating and drinking on her own. “We want something good to come out of this horrible thing that happened to Hope,” said Kit Moncrief, who adopted Hope and helped start the Saving Hope Foundation.
“Hope is a voice for other ‘Hopes,' ” said Adelaide Moncrief Royer, who helped launch the Foundation. “She gets the word out that other dogs need a loving home, and even if they haven't had a perfect life thus far, they still love you unconditionally and appreciate you so much.”
"Our ultimate goal is to try and save all the animals in Fort Worth, one day at a time, we are working to make things better, to help animals that have been abandoned or abused find a good home, to help pet owners take good care of their pets and to educate everyone on the importance of all these things - God put animals on this earth for us to take care of we hope that Hope's story is an inspiration for everyone to do just that.", said Gloria Moncrief Holmsten.
The Saving Hope Foundation is raising funds to support a new initiative in the Greater Fort Worth area called the Fort Worth Pet Project through strategic partnerships with the City of Fort Worth’s Animal Care & Control, Humane Society of North Texas, Spay Neuter Network and PetSmart Charities. - GIVING MONEY - The Saving Hope Foundation Fund has been established to help loving animals like Hope. Please donate now to benefit animal rescue organizations, spay and neuter programs and other worthy causes that benefit animals.
- HOPE & FRIENDS BOOK - The Saving Hope Foundation is putting together its second annual Hope & Friends book, which showcases the animals that touch our lives. The Foundation is compiling stories, quotes and photos from individuals, companies and/or organizations that capture these amazing animals. The Foundation wants to see photos of your pet around Fort Worth, and it wants to hear about what makes your pet's tail wag. Proceeds from the book will help make Hope's mission a reality.
- ADOPTION - The Saving Hope Foundation encourages everyone to embrace your local rescue groups and ADOPT!
- URGENT ANIMALS - Through the Urgent Animals at Fort Worth Animal Care and Control's Facebook page, you can see daily posts on pets who are CODE ORANGE (48 hrs) or CODE RED (24 hrs). If not tagged and picked up from the facility by a rescuer within the time frames noted, they will be euthanized. It's truly heart breaking to hear the stories. Many of these animals are healthy. Some may only need a round of antibiotics to get healthy and others are very ill and require major medical care.
Speaking of urgent animals, Fort Worth Pets Alive is a nonprofit organization working to help make Fort Worth and North Texas a no-kill community through rescuing homeless animals and helping to provide proper food, safety, shelter, and medical resources. Through the help of donations, FWPA comes in and rescues pets on the CODE ORANGE and RED urgent animal lists.
Our vet, Arlington Heights Animal Clinic, whom we have taken our pets to since I was in grade school will be at the Day of Hope event. Dr. Jimmy and his staff will have an "Ask the Vet" booth along with a face painting booth. Some of you may have noticed a structure being erected on Montgomery, across from the museums. October is the tentative date for the newest, state of the art veterinarian clinic, a pet hotel and full grooming services. Don't forget to LIKE them on Facebook!

Adopt a pet from any rescue or shelter during the months of June, July, & August and receive your new pet's initial wellness exam free at Arlington Heights Animal Hospital when you mention this blog. AHAH requests the exam be scheduled no more than 10 days after the date of adoption along with documentation of the adoption. Veterinarians Dr. Jimmy & Dr. Billy provide the free exam as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting rescue animals. They currently offer a free exam for all pets adopted from the North Texas Humane Society as well as Fort Worth Animal Control. AHAH hopes that a free wellness exam for adopted pets will encourage potential pet owners to choose a shelter/rescue pet and that the exam will reassure pet owners that their newly adopted pet is healthy. ***The examination fee is provided free of charge. The pet owner will be responsible for any additional services, such as medications or vaccinations, etc.
