Elf the Musical
We’ll kick this article off with the answer to your obvious question: No, Will Ferrell will not be sporting an elf costume — tights and all — on the Bass Performance Hall stage. But there remains a small consolation, an abnormally large and equally goofy elf will still be present for a three-night stint of Elf the Musical at Bass Performance Hall.
The musical, based on the 2003 movie starring Ferrell alongside James Caan, Zooey Deschanel, and a pre-Game of Thrones Peter Dinklage, will begin tonight, Nov. 11, and run through Nov. 13.
This showing is part of the Broadway Special Season Add-Ons, bringing short-term touring shows to Bass Hall.
For those who have yet to see the cult holiday flick, Elf follows the story of Buddy, a Christmas elf — well, more a human who’s been adopted by North Pole elves — searching for his father in New York City. Starring actors in the production include Cody Garcia as Buddy, Jackson James as Buddy's stepbrother Michael, Tieisha Thomas as Jovie, and Mark Fishback as Santa. Garcia also happens to be a Texas native who hails from San Antonio but studied at the Boston Conservatory.
Five showings will take place, including 1:30 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday, and tickets are still available for each performance.
